Pattern Making, Grading and Marker Planning

Fit, size consistency and fabric consumption begin with the pattern system.

What brands need to know

The base pattern translates measurements and design intent into production pieces. Grading creates the other sizes using agreed increments, while the marker arranges pattern pieces for efficient cutting. Fabric width, direction, stripes, nap, print placement and shrinkage affect the marker and consumption. Approval of one sample does not automatically approve every graded size; critical projects may need size-set review. Pattern changes after material ordering or cutting can change price and delivery.

Production checklist

  • Approve base size measurements
  • Review grading rules
  • Declare nap or stripe direction
  • Freeze pattern before bulk cutting

How this affects your quotation

A reliable quotation depends on the final design, construction, fabric, GSM, colours, size range, quantity per style and colour, branding, packing, delivery country and target date. Commercial feasibility and material availability are reviewed before a price is confirmed.
