Garment Sample Types and Approval Sequence
Prototype, fit, size-set, sales and pre-production samples serve different purposes.
What brands need to know
A prototype checks construction and overall interpretation. A fit sample focuses on measurements and balance. A size set checks grading, while a pre-production or approval sample should represent confirmed bulk materials and workmanship. A shipment sample is taken from finished production. Names vary between companies, so the approval purpose and material status must be written. TGM does not produce pre-order samples for new customers; after a confirmed order and deposit, one approval sample per style and colour is included, with shipping charged.
