What brands need to know
Garment dye colours a sewn product, while enzyme, stone, pigment or acid-inspired processes alter surface and appearance. The exact recipe, fibre content, sewing thread, labels, rib and trims must be compatible. Washing can change shade, hand feel, dimensions, seam appearance and print performance. Vintage effects inherently vary within an approved range, so brands should not expect every piece to be identical. Development should establish an approved wash standard and measurement tolerance.
