How Garment Manufacturing Cost Is Calculated
Reliable prices require construction, material, quantity and packing details.
What brands need to know
Garment cost combines fabric consumption and loss, trims, labels, printing or embroidery, cutting, sewing, finishing, quality control, packing and commercial overhead. Fabric is often the largest variable, but complex sewing, wash treatments, small colour splits and custom hardware can change the result substantially. Freight, duty and tax must be separated from the factory price according to the agreed Incoterm. A photograph without measurements, composition and quantity supports only a rough indication, not a production price.
Production checklist
- Confirm price basis and currency
- Separate freight and duty
- List every branding application
- Record quantity and size ratio
How this affects your quotation
A reliable quotation depends on the final design, construction, fabric, GSM, colours, size range, quantity per style and colour, branding, packing, delivery country and target date. Commercial feasibility and material availability are reviewed before a price is confirmed.
