Why Clothing Manufacturing MOQ Exists

Garment and fabric minimums come from different production constraints.

What brands need to know

A garment MOQ covers pattern work, marker planning, cutting setup, colour and trim handling, machine changeovers, quality control and packing. A fabric MOQ may be measured in kilograms or metres because knitting, weaving and dyeing machines require viable batches. A low garment quantity does not cancel a custom-dye minimum. Brands can reduce complexity by sharing fabrics and trims across styles, using stock colours and limiting the first collection. TGM's standard MOQ is 300 pieces per style and colour; selected first projects with multiple colourways may be evaluated from 200 pieces per style and colour.

Production checklist

  • Separate garment and fabric MOQ
  • Plan quantity per style and colour
  • Share materials across styles
  • Allow ±10% production tolerance

How this affects your quotation

A reliable quotation depends on the final design, construction, fabric, GSM, colours, size range, quantity per style and colour, branding, packing, delivery country and target date. Commercial feasibility and material availability are reviewed before a price is confirmed.
